French Toast

Lately our weeks have been quite stressful and hectic and the weekends are a way for me and my husband to re-connect. One way in which I do that is making breakfast in bed, a favorite that is relatively simple and takes a few ingredients. It is fast and gets me back to curling up in bed with my husband quickly. Lemon Garlic Chicken

In the quest to eat better and get healthier I am looking for simple dinners that I can prep ahead of time and make quickly. I am slowly leaning towards clean eating as diet lifestyle however that does mean giving up pizza’s and cheeseburgers and when approaching my husband with these changes I need to be prepared with tasty alternatives to our typical take out options. Breakfast smoothies tips and recipes

The husband and I are trying to start the year out right and go the gym and eat healthy, like everyone else. One way in which we are doing this is upping our fruit and veggie intake. The easiest way for us to do this is first thing in the morning with a smoothie. Once you get the hang of smoothies they are very easy to make and manipulate.  You can add anything to a smoothing and in the right proportion it is fantastic. My method is usually to add frozen fruit and anything else I am trying to get rid of in the fridge. Continue reading

Snickerdoodle Cheesecake

I have been searching for a good thanksgiving dessert recipe that isn’t too traditional and my husband (that’s going to be hard to get used to) loves both cheesecake and snickerdoodle cookies. So, I thought I would combine the two and see if I could make all of his dessert dreams come true. Below is what I brought for thanksgiving dinner this year. This will be added to the menu for next year, and other holiday parties this year. Continue reading

I use my cheat recipe which uses a cake box mix as the base. Make sure to leave enough time for these. The cookies need 2-3 hours to chill in the fridge before handling. Continue reading

Neiman Marcus Cookie Recipe

I totally stole this recipe from the internet years ago, and between this one and the oatmeal cookies at Potbelly- I seriously have never looked for another oatmeal cookie recipe. If you were around in the 90’s when email chain letters were the latest and greatest, you probably heard of this. A woman, accidently paid and absorbent amount for the Neiman Marcus cookie recipe (you can easily sub in Mrs. Fields for Neiman Marcus and find similar stories). The stories range from $250, to $2,50. Regardless of the facts and if it is at all true, the email chains gave me one of the best cookie recipes. Now that we are moving into the fall and the comfort food phase of the year, I pulled up one of my old emails from my AOL accounts and tracked down this oldie but goodie. Enjoy. Continue reading
